Hello there. If you’re reading this you’re probably just as curious as I am about what this blog is about. I’m sorry to disappoint, but the answer isn’t very clear, as I’m still kind of figuring it out myself. So lets rewind just a tad…

My name is Julia and I’m obsessed with a lot of things including my dog, cozy oversized sweaters from my dad, and traveling to interesting places. I’m starting this page as sort of an insight into my life as I’m living it.

The biggest thing that’s going to be written about is the adventures I will have in Florence Italy. In just 85 days I will be on an airplane over the Atlantic flying to my new home. I will be enrolled in a study abroad program for five months in the heart of Tuscany.

The last time I was in Florence was June 2013. My family and I had already visited two other cities (Rome and Sorrento) and the country had completely captured my heart. After purchasing a beautifully tailored Italian leather jacket, I was wandering the streets of the city when I stumbled upon a plaque on the side of a building. It read “Kent State University”. I was familiar with the school, but hadn’t truly been looking at colleges, yet something inside me knew I would see that plaque again.

Fast forward three years – I have signed all the papers to fly out January 8 to study at the same building I happened upon that day in the streets of Florence. I cannot express how thrilled I am to have the opportunity for myself, and my leather jacket, to return to that breathtaking city.

Now, I’m not saying this entire page will be dedicated to my time in Florence. I plan to write more before I leave and after I return. Like I said, I’m still figuring this out myself, and that’s okay. Thank you for reading this far and having an interest in my journey, I cannot convey how much it means to me that you’re here for it!
